Head of Operations

Fresenius Medical Care UK & Ireland has had many longstanding employees over the last 25 years. This includes Jason Paul, our Head of Operations, who has been with us for 17 of them. We spoke to Jason about his time with us, how the organisation has changed over the years and what he enjoys most about his role.

I’m doing something completely different every single day

“In my role as Head of Operations I have oversight over most aspects of the business, as there are a number of operational teams that report to me the are key to supporting the business. From Customer Service and the Pharmacy team to the Warehouse and Transport services, I get a very good overview. I am also responsible for teams in IT, Project Management and Commissioning which means I’m doing something completely different every single day, getting involved in key projects and activities. I’m constantly refocussing from area to area meaning my days are very busy. Before the pandemic I’d be in the office 4-5 days a week, but with the introduction of Fresenius Medical Care UK & Ireland’s hybrid working model, I’ve been able to work from home the majority of the time. It’s been a change which has suited me, although it’s very different as working life is now very much centred on Teams meetings. The trips into the office are now less frequent, but more enjoyable as it makes you appreciate seeing your colleagues and teams face to face."

Focus on providing the highest possible quality care to patients

“As I have a view over a large part of the organisation, I had a big hand in the development and implementation of the hybrid working model. We’ve already seen some of the benefits for employees like me, who would normally have a long commute. On a business level, the model has also opened up a world of opportunity for Fresenius Medical Care UK & Ireland, enabling us to reach people who were previously unreachable in a face-to-face working world. It is helping us to grow as a business and helps provide care for even more people, which is something I really value about our work."

“When I first started with Fresenius Medical Care UK & Ireland, I had mostly worked in IT – my previous job was for a software company in the Care industry. Shortly into starting my role, I found it to be extremely rewarding being here as we focus on providing the highest possible quality care to patients. Everything you do supports this goal – even those who aren’t directly interacting with patients – as it all adds up to providing and supporting life-saving treatment."

“Our recent 25th anniversary was an opportunity to look at the business on a global scale. Look at who we are, how we function, and how we can make ourselves even better in supporting our patients. Fresenius Medical Care UK & Ireland has changed a lot over the years I’ve been here, and we’re always looking at how to improve, and I’ve felt this constantly from the organisation’s leadership, who are always trying to drive us towards being the best versions of ourselves. No matter where you are in the business, we all work together to live up to the company’s values, putting patients at the heart of everything we do. It’s something that makes our organisation really special.”
